GitLab + Burrak AI

Put an agent to work on merge requests, issues and CI failures.

Connects with OAuth — revoke any time

Reviewing a merge request properly takes real attention, and most of what it takes is not hard — it is just slow. An agent with GitLab access can do the first pass: reading the diff, checking it against the issue it claims to close, and explaining what a red pipeline is actually complaining about.

In the connector catalogue: Browse projects, manage issues, review merge requests.

Things you could ask for

Written the way you would actually say them. An agent plans the steps itself.

  • Review this merge request and comment on anything that looks like a correctness bug.
  • This pipeline failed — read the job log and tell me what broke and why.
  • Summarise everything merged into main this week as release notes.
  • Find open issues with no activity in 30 days and group them by what is blocking them.
  • Check whether this merge request actually does what its issue asked for.

Connecting it

  1. 1Create a Burrak account — the free plan is enough to try this.
  2. 2Open Connectors and choose GitLab.
  3. 3Authorise Burrak in GitLab's own window. Your password never reaches us; we receive a token you can revoke whenever you like.
  4. 4Give an agent a task. It will use the connector when the work calls for it.

GitLab and Burrak, in practice

Can it approve or merge merge requests?
Treat it as a reviewer, not an approver. It reads a diff and tells you what looks wrong; whether that clears the merge is a judgement worth keeping with a person.
Does it work with self-managed GitLab?
This connector targets GitLab's hosted MCP server. Self-managed instances vary, so check with us before assuming your installation is reachable.
How good is the review, honestly?
Good at the mechanical layer — a diff that contradicts its own issue, an error path nobody handled, a test that asserts nothing. Weaker on architectural judgement, which still needs someone who knows why the system is shaped the way it is.
