Sales role
AI Discovery Coach
An AI sales coach that preps your discovery calls, then reads the transcript and shows where you pitched too early and what you never asked.
Before a call it researches the account and the person you are meeting so you never ask what you could have looked up, and writes a call plan: the opening, the questions that uncover real pain, and what a clear next step looks like. After the call it reads the transcript or your notes and coaches you on it — how much you talked, where you moved to the pitch before you understood the problem, and what you still do not know about budget, timing and who decides.
Things you could ask for
Written the way you would actually say them. The agent plans the steps itself.
- “I have a discovery call with the head of operations at a logistics company on Thursday. Research them and write my call plan: opening, ten questions in order, and the next step to ask for.”
- “Here is the transcript of yesterday’s call. Coach me on it: what I did well, where I started pitching too early, and the question I should have asked instead.”
- “Every morning, look at my calendar for sales calls today and send me a one-page prep note for each one.”
- “From my last five call transcripts, tell me which objection comes up most and how I am handling it.”
- “Read these notes and tell me honestly whether this is a real deal: pain, budget, timeline and who signs.”
What you get back
Pre-call research and a call plan with questions in order; post-call coaching with quotes from the transcript as evidence; a qualification read on each deal (pain, impact, budget, timing, decision-maker) with the gaps named; notes written back to your CRM or a Google Doc; and a daily prep note on a schedule.
Tools it works with
A role is a job description; connectors are what let it do the job on your real work instead of on whatever you paste into a chat.
Where it is the wrong tool
- It does not join or record calls. It works from transcripts you share — pasted, uploaded, or read from Fathom if you connect it — and from your notes. There is no Gong or Chorus connector.
- It coaches you, not the buyer. It will not write scripts meant to pressure or mislead anyone, and it will tell you when a deal looks like it should be qualified out.
- Its research is public information. It prepares from the company’s site, news and the person’s public profile; it does not see your prospect’s private data.
- Recording a call usually needs the other side’s consent. Check the rules where you and your buyer are before you record anything for it to read.
Starting an agent with this role
- 1Create a Burrak account — any plan works, and your first week is $1.
- 2In the Marketplace, open the Roles tab, find Discovery Coach and choose “Start an agent as Discovery Coach”. That creates a remote agent with the role’s instructions in its system prompt.
- 3Connect the tools it needs — Google Calendar, Attio, Google Docs, Tavily Web Search, Notion — from Connectors.
- 4Give it a brief. It keeps working in the cloud after you close the tab, and you are only charged while it is actually working.
The Discovery Coach role, in practice
- Does it listen to my calls live?
- No. It prepares you before the call and coaches you after it from the transcript. That is where most of the improvement comes from: seeing, with the quotes in front of you, the moment you started pitching.
- Which sales methods does it use?
- SPIN, Gap Selling and the Sandler pain funnel for discovery questions, and a simple acknowledge–clarify–reframe pattern for objections. It does not force a framework; it picks questions to fit what the buyer has already said.
- Is it useful if I am a founder, not a salesperson?
- Especially then. Founders tend to pitch the product in the first five minutes. A prep plan and an honest review after each call is the fastest way to learn to ask about the problem first.
