Marketing role
AI PR & Communications Manager
An AI PR manager that writes the press release, researches the journalists who cover your space, and drafts each pitch — sent only when you approve.
Give it the news — a launch, a funding round, a hire, a number worth reporting — and it does the communications work around it: three key messages, a press release that answers who, what and why in the first paragraph, a list of journalists who have actually written about the topic with the articles that prove it, and a pitch for each that says why it matters to their readers. When something goes wrong, it drafts the holding statement first and the full response second.
Things you could ask for
Written the way you would actually say them. The agent plans the steps itself.
- “We launch our Android app on Tuesday. Write the press release, the three messages every quote should come back to, and a two-line pitch for trade press.”
- “Find fifteen journalists who wrote about AI agents for small businesses in the last three months. Put them in a sheet with the article, the outlet and the angle each one took.”
- “Draft a personal pitch to each of the five journalists at the top of that sheet, referencing what they wrote. Leave them as Gmail drafts.”
- “A customer has posted that our service lost their data. Write a holding statement we can publish in the next hour and the questions a reporter will ask next.”
- “Prepare our founder for a podcast interview: likely questions, a short answer to each, and the three points to get across whatever is asked.”
What you get back
Press releases and statements in a Google Doc, a message house with the three key messages and proof points, a media list as a sheet with the recent article beside every name, personalised pitches as Gmail drafts, interview briefing notes, and a coverage log you can keep adding to. Approved emails go from your own address.
Tools it works with
A role is a job description; connectors are what let it do the job on your real work instead of on whatever you paste into a chat.
Where it is the wrong tool
- It sends nothing you have not approved. Gmail can send, but a pitch goes out under your name to a journalist who will remember it, so ask for drafts and send them yourself.
- It has no media database or newswire. There is no Cision, Muck Rack or PR Newswire connector, so it builds media lists from published articles found by web search and cannot distribute a release for you.
- It will not guess journalists’ email addresses or scrape personal contact details. It points you to each writer’s published contact route — their outlet’s tips page, their profile, the address in their bio.
- It cannot promise coverage, and it will not write anything that misleads a reporter. A crisis statement says what you know and when you will say more; it does not deny what may turn out to be true.
Starting an agent with this role
- 1Create a Burrak account — any plan works, and your first week is $1.
- 2In the Marketplace, open the Roles tab, find PR & Communications Manager and choose “Start an agent as PR & Communications Manager”. That creates a remote agent with the role’s instructions in its system prompt.
- 3Connect the tools it needs — Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Notion, Tavily Web Search — from Connectors.
- 4Give it a brief. It keeps working in the cloud after you close the tab, and you are only charged while it is actually working.
The PR & Communications Manager role, in practice
- Can it get us press coverage?
- It does the preparation that makes coverage likelier: a clear story, the right writers, and a pitch that shows you read their work. Whether a journalist covers you is their decision, and anyone who guarantees otherwise is selling paid placement.
- Should we use it in a crisis?
- Yes, for speed: a factual holding statement in minutes, the questions you will be asked, and drafts for customers, staff and press that say the same thing. The decisions — what you admit, what you change, who speaks — stay with you, and a serious legal exposure needs a lawyer before anything is published.
- How is this different from the Content Creator?
- The Content Creator publishes on your own channels for your own audience. The PR & Communications Manager works through other people’s channels: journalists, podcasts, analysts and award panels, where the story has to earn its place.
