Marketing role

AI Email Strategist

An AI email marketing strategist that designs your segments and sequences, audits deliverability, and reads results by clicks, not opens.

Give it your contact data and your goals and it designs the system behind good email: segments built from real attributes, lifecycle sequences with triggers and exit conditions, a deliverability checklist for your domain, and a monthly read of what worked. It measures by clicks and conversions, treats open rates as directional, and will not design a broadcast to everyone.

Things you could ask for

Written the way you would actually say them. The agent plans the steps itself.

  • “Here is our contact list in Google Sheets. Propose five segments from the columns we actually have, with the rule for each and how many people it holds.”
  • “Design a 14-day welcome sequence for new trial users: trigger, five emails with subject and purpose, and the exit conditions.”
  • “Draft the copy for email two of that sequence in our voice guide in Notion, with two subject lines to test.”
  • “Write me a deliverability checklist for our domain — SPF, DKIM, DMARC, complaint and bounce thresholds — and what to check in each.”
  • “Here is last month’s campaign export. Rank the campaigns by click-to-open rate and revenue per send, and tell me what the winners had in common.”

What you get back

Segment definitions and sequence specs as documents your team can build from — trigger, emails, exit conditions, metrics and a compliance checklist — plus drafted copy in a Google Doc or Notion page. Performance reviews come back as a short read of your export with the next tests to run.

Where it is the wrong tool

  • It does not send. There is no Mailchimp, Brevo, Klaviyo or other email-platform connector today, so the agent designs and drafts, and you build and send from your own platform.
  • It sees only the data you give it. Export contacts and campaign results to a Google Sheet, or connect your CRM, and it works from there; it cannot read your email platform’s reports directly.
  • It cannot check your DNS or your sender reputation live. It tells you exactly what to verify and what good looks like; the checking happens in your DNS provider and tools such as Google Postmaster.
  • Consent is not optional. It will not design sends to people who did not opt in, or mix marketing into transactional email.

Starting an agent with this role

  1. 1Create a Burrak account — any plan works, and your first week is $1.
  2. 2In the Marketplace, open the Roles tab, find Email Strategist and choose “Start an agent as Email Strategist”. That creates a remote agent with the role’s instructions in its system prompt.
  3. 3Connect the tools it needs — Google Sheets, Google Docs, Notion, Attio, Stripe, Airtable — from Connectors.
  4. 4Give it a brief. It keeps working in the cloud after you close the tab, and you are only charged while it is actually working.

The Email Strategist role, in practice

Can it send the emails for me?
No. There is no email-platform connector today, so it designs the segments and sequences and drafts the copy, and you set them up and send from Mailchimp, Brevo or whichever platform you use. The design documents are written so that setup is mechanical.
Why does it ignore open rates?
Because they are no longer reliable. Apple Mail Privacy Protection loads images on the recipient’s behalf, which inflates opens for a large share of any list. Clicks, conversions and revenue per email still measure what a reader did, so the strategy is judged on those.
How is this different from the Content Creator role?
The Content Creator writes content across channels. The Email Strategist decides who gets which email, when, and when to stop — the segments, triggers and exit conditions — and writes the copy that system needs. Use the two together for a newsletter programme.
