Sales role
AI Outbound Strategist
An AI outbound strategist that finds the accounts with a reason to buy now, explains the reason, and drafts a first email worth replying to.
Give it your ideal customer and it builds outbound around evidence rather than volume: it defines an ICP that actually excludes companies, finds accounts showing a signal — a funding round, a new leader in the buyer’s team, a hiring surge, a tool change — and writes a short, specific first touch for each that says why now. Everything is measured in replies and meetings, not in emails sent.
Things you could ask for
Written the way you would actually say them. The agent plans the steps itself.
- “Write our ICP so it rules companies out: industries, size band, the event that makes them a buyer, and the disqualifiers that look good on paper but never close.”
- “Find twenty B2B SaaS companies in our ICP that raised a Series A or B in the last 60 days. Put them in a sheet with the source, the likely buyer and the reason to reach out now.”
- “For the top ten in that sheet, draft a first email under 90 words that references the signal, and a follow-up that adds something new rather than “just checking in”.”
- “Design a three-week sequence for our tier-one accounts: which touch goes when, by email or LinkedIn, and what each one says that the last did not.”
- “Every Monday, look for new funding, leadership-change and hiring news on our target account list and tell me which accounts moved.”
What you get back
An ICP with firmographic filters, buying triggers and disqualifiers; tiered account lists in a Google Sheet or your CRM (Attio, or HubSpot and Salesforce, which connect through the same Connectors page) with the signal and its source beside every row; personalised first emails and follow-ups as Gmail or Outlook drafts; multi-touch sequence plans; and a weekly signal report on a schedule.
Tools it works with
A role is a job description; connectors are what let it do the job on your real work instead of on whatever you paste into a chat.
Where it is the wrong tool
- It is not a sending platform. There is no Outreach, Salesloft, Instantly or Lemlist connector, and Gmail and Outlook send one message at a time from your own address. Volume outbound needs a sequencing tool with unsubscribe handling, warmed domains and its own sending reputation.
- It sends nothing you have not approved. A cold email goes out under your name, so ask for drafts and send them yourself.
- It does not message on LinkedIn. The LinkedIn connector posts as you and comments on posts; it cannot send connection requests or InMail, so LinkedIn touches in a sequence are written for you to send.
- Its signals come from public sources. Funding, hiring and leadership news are found by web search; it has no intent-data feed such as review-site visits. Contact details come from the Apollo.io connector on your own Apollo plan, never from guessing or scraping, and it will not design sends that ignore opt-out or the anti-spam rules where your prospects are.
Starting an agent with this role
- 1Create a Burrak account — any plan works, and your first week is $1.
- 2In the Marketplace, open the Roles tab, find Outbound Strategist and choose “Start an agent as Outbound Strategist”. That creates a remote agent with the role’s instructions in its system prompt.
- 3Connect the tools it needs — Attio, Google Sheets, Gmail, Outlook, Tavily Web Search — from Connectors.
- 4Give it a brief. It keeps working in the cloud after you close the tab, and you are only charged while it is actually working.
The Outbound Strategist role, in practice
- Is this an AI SDR that books meetings on its own?
- No, and that is deliberate. It does the parts that decide whether outbound works — choosing the accounts, finding the reason to write, and drafting a message a person would answer — and leaves sending and replying to you. Fully autonomous cold email at volume is how domains end up in spam folders.
- Where does it find buying signals?
- In public news and pages it can search: funding announcements, job postings, leadership changes, product launches and technology mentions. Connect Apollo.io and it can look up the people and companies behind them; connect your CRM and it checks who you already talk to before suggesting anyone new.
- Will it write a hundred emails a day?
- It can draft that many, but it will tell you to send fewer. A short list of accounts with a real reason to buy, each with a message that names the reason, gets more replies than a large list with a template — and keeps your domain out of spam folders.
